Due to restrictions related to the coronavirus, many bars and event agencies came up with a new format of entertainment — Zoom parties. While at home, you can prepare your favorite cocktail according to the bartender's recipe, drink it with the same random visitors of the online establishment, listen to various life stories or tell your own.

The St. Petersburg catering company Art Nuvo, based on this format, came up with a cooking show for remote workers — "Intern".

What's the essence?

Employees of the company for which the show is organized cook restaurant dishes directly from home under the guidance of an experienced chef, Denis Dlotovsky. Participants of the master class receive a set of ingredients — all pre-packaged and labeled. Then participants join a Zoom conference and, following the chef's instructions, prepare food. There is also an interactive part: together with the host, you can play "Crocodile" or answer questions from the capital show "Field of Miracles".

Client

The St. Petersburg catering company Art Nuvo approached us with the idea of such a show. They can prepare food for any event: from a small party to a large-scale event with several hundred people. The Art Nuvo team organized a buffet at SPIEF, set tables at the opening of a Mercedes-Benz dealer center and the presentation of new projects of the TNT TV channel. And that's just a small part of the tasks the catering company has successfully handled.

Task

Our studio had to do the following:

  1. Organize an online broadcast of the interactive show
  2. Shoot a video advertising the new catering service

Solution

In the promotional video, we decided to demonstrate the service in action: how products are delivered, what the set of ingredients looks like, how the cooking process is organized, and what results participants achieve at the end of the master class.

As a solution, we used the technique of "parallel editing". We simultaneously filmed everything happening in the kitchen-studio and in the participants' apartments. We wanted to show that even at home, you can have a great time with colleagues (even if you only see them through the screen), treat yourself to an "evening of haute cuisine" and turn such an event into a family celebration.

At each location, an operator worked, filming material for the promotional video. But behind the scenes of the main filming set — the kitchen — we set up an entire television studio, so technically this location was the most complex.

From the kitchen, we conducted the online broadcast and output video to Zoom. For this, we installed lighting equipment and two video cameras, set up a server, provided a stable internet connection, and established internal communication between the director and operators. The host and chef also maintained the same communication with the director. This allowed us to quickly exchange information between team members during recording and broadcasting.

An important part of the cooking show is games with participants. One of them is "Field of Miracles". The live broadcast director had to reveal letters during the game so participants could guess the word.

Another task from the host — take a "selfie against a backdrop of buckwheat supplies". Photos sent by participants were also displayed in the general video stream.

And at the end of the show, each participant could vote for their favorite photo. We also provided this opportunity.

Following professional standards, we also created graphic elements for the show. And we displayed them in the live broadcast: these are lower thirds, titles, animated logos, etc.

As a result, we made such cool videos. Check them out below! And leave a request for an online broadcast.
