Introduction:
The Atomlive and Atomrock festivals are a series of large-scale rock events in Russia's nuclear cities, for whichwe have been providing broadcastssince 2022, having already conducted more than ten broadcasts with a total reach of over a million viewers. The project customer is the State Corporation Rosatom, which requires flawless technical implementation.
Goal:
We had an ambitious task: to ensure a stable broadcast with dynamic camera switching, deliver high-quality video signal to screens for viewers far from the stage, and also organize live connections with a correspondent from different festival zones. The project had its own peculiarities: a large amount of equipment had to be transported to the host cities by truck, and working in field conditions required protecting equipment from rain and ensuring stable broadcast operation in any weather.
Preparation:
Work on the project began with agreeing on the technical scenario with the client and planning the camera placement, as well as the equipment switching scheme. After approval of the plan, we assembled the equipment and sent it to the location, prepared the team, arranged tickets and accommodation. On the day of arrival, we installed the equipment and assembled the crane, conducted a briefing on site, checked all connections, internet stability and video signals, and then sent a test signal. This was followed by the broadcast and the final stage — disassembly of equipment and delivery of equipment and team back to St. Petersburg.
The following were involved in the project implementation:
— project manager — coordination of the team and communication with the client;
— director — management of the broadcast and visual structure of the transmission;
— five operators — work on the main cameras;
— two crane operators — dynamic, high and accent shots;
— duty technician — monitoring equipment serviceability and prompt resolution of technical issues.
The total preparation time was about two weeks: the day before — site inspection, on the broadcast day — installation and final checks.

What was done:
We deployed the technical infrastructure of the broadcast and ensured a full cycle of work on site: an 8-meter crane for dynamic shots was installed, two cameras with wireless video transmitters were connected, an internet access point with bonding for stable connection was organized, and general and close-up cameras were raised on a Partikabel for stability and image quality. All operators were in contact with the director via intercom, Tally indicators worked on the cameras, and a duty technician monitored equipment serviceability, which allowed prompt response to any script changes without affecting broadcast quality.
Result:
During the project implementation, all set goals were achieved: the broadcast was stable, the image and sound quality fully met expectations. The client was satisfied with the result and continues cooperation with us for the third year, the artists gave positive feedback on the broadcast quality, and viewers highly appreciated the transmission; some musicians use fragments of recordings to promote their work. It is planned to continue joint work with the client in the next season, developing and improving technical solutions for new events.
